Context
SleepCareCBT is a specialised therapy practice established by Kevin A., focusing on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for insomnia (CBT-i).
The practice’s website was initially built using Squarespace template, allowing the business to establish an online presence and begin serving clients.
I’m a sleep scientist and therapist by training, and have no background in web design. Nonetheless I needed to set something up for my new insomnia therapy business and used Squarespace for this. Whilst the information was there, it wasn’t well communicated through my design, which looked amateurish and came off more as just a booking site for appointments.

Opportunity
“What if SleepCareCBT could be more than helping current clients book appointments?
What if it also empowered individuals struggling with insomnia to discover the unique value of CBT-i and SleepCareCBT’s programs?”
Result
Kevin loves the new site and had it go live immediately.

Initial
Approach
Booking focused
The initial site targeted SleepcareCBT’s current clients. These users only went to the website for scheduling appointments.
Biggest
Challenge
The initial site didn’t fully capture the quality and trustworthiness of SleepcareCBT’s services…
And, it didn’t provide a clear path for potential clients to explore CBT-i treatment benefits, then book an appointment with confidence.
Re-designed
Version
#1 Streamlined Appointment Flow
The initial booking form presented all appointment types at once, requiring users to determine which appointments were relevant to their specific therapy program – an extra cognitive step that could lead to confusion
By placing dedicated booking buttons in 3 program cards, the appointment flow now automatically directs users to appointments specific to their chosen therapy program.
This approach eliminates the need to navigate through irrelevant options and reduces decision fatigue
#2 Thoughtful Information Architecture
The website’s information architecture was restructured to create a more meaningful connection with visitors, especially potential patients who haven’t met Kevin, by:
1. Starting with acknowledgment of challenges and frustrations of insomnia sufferers.
2. Building trust through an educational approach by introducing CBT-i treatment & its benefits.
3. Creating a natural progression where the flow moves organically from understanding → education → solution →practical steps, mirroring how people naturally make healthcare decisions.
#3 Purposeful UI Design
Enhanced visual hierarchy through color contrast, bullet points, and typography to clearly differentiate programs and facilitate easy scanning and understanding.
Motion design was used to evoke the feeling of sleeplessness, creating empathy and highlighting the problem SleepCareCBT addresses.
A gradual transition from dark to light symbolises the transformative power of CBT-i, offering a visual representation of hope and recovery.
Ý completely transformed the SleepCareCBT site through cooperative engagement with me about my business vision. She has created a visual narrative with animation and interactive lighting elements that takes potential clients out of the virtual ‘darkness’ of their sleep disorder into the ‘light’ of an effective treatment.
I am mightily impressed by her creative skill and her anticipation of my requirements, and have no hesitation in recommending her for any design solutions.Kevin A.
